Model Town tragedy repeated in Karachi

ISLAMABAD: Calling for nationwide protests against privatization and tax policies, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan described Karachi situation as a repeat of Model Town tragedy.

“We will hold protests on February 6 in all districts against privatization and anti-masses tax policies of the government,” Khan announced.

“I'm participating myself in the protest because this democratic dictatorship is crushing the common man,” he said.

Khan strongly condemned the use of force against protesting PTI workers.

PESHAWAR: Peshawar High Court (PHC) on Thursday issued contempt of court notice to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chairman Imran Khan, Samaa reported.
According to our correspondent, the PTI chief was served notice over his non-appurtenance in the court in connection with a case regarding health reforms in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

MANCHESTER: Former wife of the PTI Chairman Imran Khan, Reham Khan made the first public appearance at a ceremony in Britain after the breakup, SAMAA reported on Wednesday.

Addressing a media conference in Manchester, Reham Khan shunned questions regarding her separation from Imran Khan.

She, however, hinted: “No change is ever possible to take place without the respect for women.”

ISLAMABAD: Imran Khan and Reham Khan’s marriage had ended up in a divorce, a senior PTI official confirmed on Friday.

PTI spokesman Naeemul Haq confirmed in Samaa that the couple has parted ways, adding that they have divorced by mutual consent.

He said that Reham is currently in London but he refused to comment any further on the development. Rehman Khan took to social networking website twitter to announce that Imran Khan and she have decided to part ways.

JUI-S backs Ayaz Sadiq in fray for NA-122


LAHORE: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Samiul Haq (JUI-S) has decided to support PML-N candidate Sardar Ayaz Sadiq in bye-polls on NA-122, Samaa reported Friday.

The decision was revealed by Sardar Ayaz Sadiq and JUI-S local leaders at a press conference in Lahore’s Saman Abad area today.

Over 500 election offices have been set up by Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek Insaaf (PTI) supporters for October 11 by-elections in NA 122, about five times more than the camps established for the 2013 general elections.


The campaign of by-elections of NA 122 is coinciding with the run-up activity for local bodies polls, scheduled after a gap of 20 days. There are 28 union councils in NA 122, therefore, the candidates of local bodies polls are also actively campaigning for NA 122 to test their strength. Political activists are expecting a good turn- out in by polls in NA 122 as all contesting candidates of local bodies have been given the task of bringing their voters out on October 11 too with a primary objective of testing their strength ahead of the local government elections.

LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf are all set to stage their rallies in the provincial capital today (Friday) as election campaign for the by-election in National Assembly Constituency NA-122 enters last day.


The PML-N and the PTI have finalized all the arrangements for their rallies in Mazang Chowrangi and Dongi Ground respectively.

The PML-N which has chosen the Dongi Ground for the show of power in their stronghold is said to have placed 10,000 chairs at the venue of the Jalsa.

Imran backs DG Rangers amid PPP onslaught

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan today put his weight behind Sindh Rangers in the face of strong criticism from the PPP and its government about the paramilitary rangers force.
“The whole Karachi knows how mafias are operating in the city,” Khan told media persons after attending the hearing of Inquiry Commission probing claims of systematic rigging in the last general elections.
“Asif Ali Zarari has used very harsh language against army while Nawaz Sharif has come to his rescue,” he said.

“When PTI staged a sit-in outside the Parliament House in Islamabad, Asif Ali Zardari supported Nawaz Sharif,” he said, saying that charter of democracy (CoD) signed between the two parties was in fact the charter of “muk muka”.
To a question, he said that opposition parties should ask for the resignation of Nawaz Sharif before demanding the same to the PTI-led government in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
